Abstract:
The phase structure of the three-dimensional Gross–Neveu model in a constant external electric field $E$ is investigated. It is shown that for $g>0$ the model remains chiral invariant for all values of $E$. For $g<0$, there exists a critical value $E_c$ of the external field
such that for $E<E_c$ the chiral symmetry is spontaneously broken, while for $E\geqslant E_c$ it is restored.
