EWG-containing thiophene- and 2-thiolene-1,1-dioxides as promising electrophiles for organic synthesis

The reactions of thiophene- and 2-thiolene-1,1-dioxides bearing electron-withdrawing groups (EWGs) with C-, O-, and Snucleophiles lead to regio- and stereo-selective formation of Michael adducts in high yields.
