The course presents basic notions related to equations in groups with emphasis to equations in free groups. We will prove algorithmic solvability of some classes of equations, describe their solution sets and consider various examples of equations. Listeners of the course do not need a special background; a university algebra course is enough. Students of all levels and post-graduates are welcome.
