SEMINARS

Seminar `Low-dimensional topology'
September 11, 2023–December 30, 2024, Steklov Mathematical Institute, Room 313 (8 Gubkina)

We kindly ask all participants, including remote ones and those
watching recorded videos, to register at this link.

The seminar is supposed to mainly analyze other authors' recent works on the theory of three- and four-dimensional manifolds, as well as the theory of knots. The focus will be on algorithmic issues, the theory of codimension one foliations, contact topology, Heegaard-Floer homology, smooth structures on four-dimensional manifolds and other relevant topics.

Among the works planned for discussion and detailed study are the following ones.

  1. Recent works on the three-demensional homology cobordism group (Manolescu, Hom).
  2. Approaches of Manolescu and Piccirillo to the construction of non-standard smooth structures on four-manifolds.
  3. Works on the connection between Heegaard--Floer homology and taut foliations on three-manifolds (Ozsváth--Szabó, Hanselman--Rasmussen--Rasmussen--Watson, Kazez--Roberts, etc).
  4. Works of Giroux on the connection between open books and contact structures.
