Abstract: Timothy F. Osipovskiy (02.02.1766-24.06.1832) was one of the few domestic persons of encyclopaedic knowledge. Following S.J. Rumovskii (1734-1812) he was a link in the chain from M. Lomonosov to N. Lobachevsky. The report highlights six successive stages of his life: 1) 1766-1783. Childhood. Learning at St. Vladimir's Seminary. 2) 1783-1786. Learning at the Teachers' Seminary in St. Petersburg. Best graduate. 3) 1786-1800. Work in the General People's School in Moscow. 4) 1800-1803. Work in the Teachers' school in St. Petersburg. Professor of physical and mathematical sciences. 5) 1803-1820. Work at Kharkov University. Rector (1813-1820). 6) 1820-1832. Scientific work in Moscow. Retired.
