A projective variety with discrete, non-finitely generated automorphism group

We will describe two closely related constructions by J. Lesieutre, one yielding a variety over any field $K$ of characteristic zero such that its group of geometric components of automorphisms is not finitely generated; another yielding a variety with infinitely many $L/K$-forms for any quadratic extension $L/K$.
