Abstract: In this talk we present a survey concerning parabolic free boundary problems involving a discontinuous hysteresis operator. Such problems describe biological and chemical processes "with memory" in which various substances interact according to hysteresis law. In particular, the growth of a colony of Salmonella typhimurium on a Petri dish is modelled with this parabolic problem. Our main objective is to discuss the structure of the free boundaries and the properties of the so-called "strong solutions" belonging to the anisotropic Sobolev class Website: https://teams.microsoft.com/l/meetup-join/19%3ameeting_YTI2NzMxZDQtMWQ3My00NzU5LTkwZjEtYmJmMTIyNmE0YmU1%40thread.v2/0?context=%7b%22Tid%22%3a%222ae95c20-c675-4c48-88d3-f276b762bf52%22%2c%22Oid%22%3a%224496f797-8f9d-4b49-a30e-d363347b3ff2%22%7d |
