Abstract: A review talk on geometric control theory will focus on the following issues: • Examples of applied optimal control problems, • Basic general problems and concepts of mathematical control theory, • Orbit theorem, Rashevskii-Chow theorem, Krener’s theorem, • Pontryagin maximum principle, • Examples of solutions to optimal control problems, • Applications to image processing and robotics.
