Abstract: We will introduce child's drawings on unions of surfaces, possibly glued together at individual points, discuss why this construction is natural, and demonstrate its connection with Belyi pairs on reducible curves, involving the standard equivalence of categories. We will give an example of a Fried pair on a sphere, one of whose degenerations is a child's drawing on a reducible singular curve. The talk is based on our joint work with G.B. Shabat. |
