The effect of architecture and structure of multiprocessor computers on programming languages and translation methods

The article surveys the effect of the architecture and structure of vector processors, multiprocessor systems with shared memory, multiprocessor systems with separate memories, and local networks on the linguistic tools describing operations with data arrays, control of asynchronous processors and their synchronization, and on the linguistic tools of message exchange. The functions of translators which ensure parallel run of the programs and the specifics of translation algorithms in multiprocessor systems are discussed.
