Using the averaging method for investigation of autooscillations in high order systems

The method of harmonic balance in a high order system is shown to be equivalent to the method of averaging for a system which results from replacing the variables inj the original one and that the criterion for autooscillation stability is the condition for asymptotic stability of the amplitude component in the averaged system.
