Abstract: The paper is concerned with economically optimal control of heating oxidizing metal. A numerical model of the process is developed. In the case of cold input into the soaking pit the oxidizing metal takes a longer time to heat than in the case of no oxidization. Suboptimal control is achieved through parametric optimization of modes from the range of functions which were described in theoretical terms in [1,2]. Physical interpretation of the solutions leads to an economical type of heating modes.
