Abstract:
An approximate method is described which recognizes the time constant of accessing core memory modules in multiprocessor systems whereby the error in estimating the throughput is neariy halved. In the method the rules are developed for design of $M/D/n$ service systems from $M/M/n$ systems which describe multiprocessor systems. The implementation of the method boils down to modification of input parameters of analytical models in which memory access time distribution is assumed exponential. The resultant modification rules are applicable to most reported models. The modeling results are described.
