Using Petri nets in modeling for detection of and search for alternating failures in a computer

With reference to a subclass of alternating computer failures the use of Petri nets is shown to be sound for simulating the processes which lead to the failures. The resultant model is studied, and factors (process parameters) are determined which influence the probability of failures. Advice on application of the models is provided.
