Symmetry properties and characterization of covariance matrices in an experimental design problem with random blocks

Abstract: The symmetry properties of experimental design with randomized units are studied. Symmetry groups are described and the associated commutator algebra is shown to coincide in the case of randomance blocks with the algebra of relations introduced by A. T. James. The necessary and sufficient conditions to be satisfied by со variance matrices of sampled data belonging to commutator algebra are found.
