Developing Systems

A model of consumer choice with prices fixed

É. M. Braverman

Moscow

Abstract: A model of consumer choice is proposed in which certain products are in short supply and their consumption is limited. The model relies on an assumption analogous to the axiom of independence for enforced alternatives [1] in theory of selection. It is shown that consumption function can be introduced for each product as functions of constraints on the remaining products; these functions completely describe the behaviour of the consumer with anyset of products in short supply.
