Abstract:
A more specific definitions given to equivalent speed of an analog computer in terms of duration of an equivalent digital computer operation. The notion of potential speed of an analog computer is introduced and used to determine, to what extent the potential analog computer speed is realized in existing hybrid computer systems. In the space of parameters characterizing the speed of a digital computer, ways of organizing the exchange of the control and computing data and problem sharing between the analog and the digital computer a domain of maximal use of the potential analog computer speed is found. A hierarchical structure of the hybrid computer system is shown to more than double the use of potential analog computer speed.
