Estimation of the mean time of faultless operation of one class of unrestorable systems

A method is proposed for estimating the mean time of faultless operation for systems whose failure rate satisfies to a certain condition. The estimate accuracy is shown to be improvable for systems with increasing failure rate. The method leads to a simple approximate analytical expression for the mean value of faultless operation of a system made of elements whose reliability law is normal.
