Abstract: The paper considers the critical states of discrete inhomogeneous compounds under conditions of plane deformation. The boundary between sections of different strength is assumed to be a two-link polyline or contains such a fragment. The features of mathematical models of such states in the form of fields of characteristics (sliding lines) are investigated. It is shown for the first time that stress discontinuity lines can be located in a less durable part of the joint, and plastic flow zones in a more durable part can be located inside the joint.

Keywords: discrete-inhomogeneous connection, critical stress state, stress discontinuity lines, contact hardening and softening.
