Abstract:
It is studied the effect of cathodic hydrogen on tribological properties of titanium alloy VT3-1 and medium carbon steel 40X while fretting wear. It is found that the hydrogen decrease the coefficient of friction and increase the wear of the titanium alloy. Tribological characteristics of steel depend on its structural composition. Hydrogenation unhardening steel reduces the coefficient of friction and the wear. It is found that the cathodic hydrogen has little effect on the tribological properties of the steel after tempering at 500 °C. The greatest value of the friction coefficient and wear are obtained on samples of the steel after hardening and tempering at 300 °C.
