Abstract: The results of study of the chromatic properties of the DOE for controlling the laser ablation are presented. Both the effects of the DOE-fabrication-related deviation of the designed wavelength and the spectrum broadening due to short pulse duration are considered. The first phenomenon is investigated experimentally in a model with a continuous laser, while the second is investigated in real ablation of metal films deposited on a dielectric substrate. It is shown that the deviation from the designed wavelength can be used to perform a desired transformation of the focal area. The phenomena associated with the spectrum broadening do not lead to any significant effects for the selected parameters of the laser beam.

Keywords: femtosecond phenomena, binary optics, phase shift, non-imaging optics, chromatic aberration of DOE.
