Abstract: The effect of the casing on the critical detonation diameter of a fine low-velocity emulsion explosive was examined experimentally. The critical diameter of a metalcased cylindrical charge is seven times smaller than that of the charge in a thin-walled polyethylene casing.

Keywords: emulsion explosives, detonation, critical diameter, effect of casing.
