Abstract: Variation in the refractive index in polymethyl methacrylate and lithium fluoride under quasi-entropic loading was studied experimentally. The values of the refractive index and the correction coefficient in the formula for the mass velocity were determined. The results obtained for quasi-entropic loading are compared with available data for shock-wave compression of the materials studied.

Keywords: refractive index, quasi-entropic compression, shock wave, Fabry–Perot laser Doppler interferometer, lithium fluoride single crystal, polymethyl methacrylate.
