Abstract: Variants of experiments in which prefractured samples (in tests on spall fracture) are further compacted by shock reloading are considered on the example of aluminum. The results of the experimental-computational study and metallographic analysis of recovered samples in the tests are used to determine the pressure of compacting aluminum, which is $\approx$ 2 GPa.

Keywords: spall fracture, compaction, metallographic analysis.
