Abstract:
Experimental results on the recoil-force dependence on the burning rate for composite propellants based on stoichiometric mixtures of ammonium perchlorate (AP) and polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) are presented. Propellants with additions of Al or Al$_2$O$_3$ were also tested to investigate dispersion phenomena. Changes in the initial temperature, pressure, and external radiation allowed variations of the burning rate. Thus, to deduce the burning rate from the recoil force, the parameters of the fitting law must be determined for each propellant composition under a particular set of external conditions.
