Abstract:
A hot plate technique is used to study the ignition probability of granulated ammonium nitrate mixed with combustible additives: I-50 oil, carbon black, and polyethylene. If the additive content is 5% or more, mixtures in a 140 mm diameter charge ignite and burn stably at normal pressure. The ignition temperature was almost identical at 350$^\circ$C for all mixtures under the test conditions.
