Abstract:
We have calculated the burning velocity of a single particle and a monodisperse system of coal particles under conditions when the burning velocity is diffusion-limited. We have investigated the effect of deviation of the particle shape from spherical on the particle burning velocity. We have shown that for particles whose shape corresponds to a prolate or oblate spheroid, the ratio of the semiaxes of the spheroid does not change during burning. We have experimentally investigated high-temperature burning of dispersed coal particles. We note agreement between the results of theoretical and experimental investigations on the evolution of the shape of coal particles during high-temperature burning.
