Abstract:
A transition from stationary to spin combustion, when the thickness of the pressed titanium powder sample burned is increased, has been achieved experimentally under the conditions of surface combustion at reduced pressure (200–750 torr). Heat transfer from the combustion front into the sample is shown to play a decisive role when the mode of combustion changes. The effect of the thickness of the sample burned on a number of characteristics of spin combustion (rate, frequency, step) is studied.
