Adiabatic method in the thermal theory of ignition of metal particles in gases

Abstract: An approximate solution of the problem of ignition of metal particles in gases, which is mathematically complicated by the nonlinear kinetics of metal oxidation, has been obtained. An analytical expression for the ignition delay, similar to the semiempirical Friedman–Macek dependence, is proposed. The numerical calculations are in good agreement with the analytical solution.
