Characteristics of the radiation emitted by and the conditions for nucleation of submicron oxide particles during combustion of magnesium

Abstract: The radiative characteristics of the zone of combustion of $\mathrm{MgO}$ particles were investigated in the pressure range $p = 10^4\div10^5$ Pa. The absorption efficiency factors $Q_a$ of $\mathrm{MgO}$ particles were determined for different wavelengths and temperatures. The depth of the levels in the forbidden band which are responsible for the high values of ua were determined: $E_g=3.3\pm0.4$ eV. The composition of the reaction zone, determining the appearance of defects of the $\mathrm{MgO}$ crystal lattice and influencing the condensation regime, was investigated.
