Abstract: Results are presented from experimental and theoretical studies of the effect of particle microcapsuling on the major operational characteristics and phenomena associated with the ignition and combustion of aluminum aerosuspensions. It is found that microcapsuling can be used to enhance the reactivity of an aerosuspension and to lower the amount of the condensed phase in the combustion phases while conserving the initial dispersivity of the particles and the energy characteristics of the aluminum-air mixture.
