Abstract:
The limiting (failure) strains have been determined for shells composed of oriented glass-fiber material with internal centrally symmetric explosive loading and various levels of biaxial strain. Shells have been tested with combined spiraling reinforcement structures. The limiting circumferential stretching is 4.8 $\pm$ 0.4%, which coincides within the measurement errors with the failure strain in an elementary glass fiber. This may serve as a strength criterion, as for woven fiberglass materials.
