Abstract: Loading by a sliding detonation in a thin layer of explosive is considered. The loading parameters have been related to the acoustic impedance by numerical calculation. Measurements have been made on how the surface size and explosive thickness affect the momentum transferred to aluminum and Tufnol. The pulse distribution is considered for a two-layer Tufnol-aluminum system. The measurements are explained in terms of considerable length in the loading pulse.
