Experimental investigation of ignition of combustible gas mixtures by friction sparks

Abstract: This paper presents a method of testing structural materials for spark safety and the results of testing this method for several pairs of materials and samples of combustible gases and vapors. Hydrogen, acetylene, AI-92 gasoline vapor, methane and liquefied petroleum gas were used as combustible gases and vapor, and samples of various types of steel, aluminum, and brass as structural materials.
