About the stability of the rotational motion of a top with a cavity filled up with a viscous fluid

Abstract: The linear stability problem of the rotational motion of a top around a fixed point containing an inner cavity filled up with a viscous fluid is considered. The effect of the viscosity in the stability problem is studied.
