Energetics of mechanical destruction of middle radicals

Abstract: The breaking strain of a model fragment of a middle radical in a rigid polymer matrix has been calculated. The force and energy characteristics of the destruction of the radical and the formation of double bonds have been estimated. The dissociation energy and the strength of C$_{\beta}$–C$_{\gamma}$ bonds for trans- and gaucheconformers of radicals have been determined. It has been established that the probability of breaking of the $\beta$ bonds essentially depends of the conformation structure of the macroradicals.
