How were found some solutions of the problem of duplication of cube?

The author gives a new reconstruction of the ways on which the solutions of the problem of duplication of cube were found by Greek mathematicians and F. Viet. Rather than following the details of Eutocius' report, which provides demonstrations without explanation of how they were found, he makes his reconstructions using geometrical interpretations of the problem previously reformulated in terms of a continuous proportion.
