Hardware Interface and Data Storage in PC-based Vision Systems

A. A. Boguslavsky, S. M. Sokolov

Abstract: The interface with hardware in PC-based vision systems are considered in this paper. Discussed VS function in a real-time in the MS-DOS environment. Considered VS have identical hardware and software structure. It allows, on the one hand to ensure functioning in real time, and with other - to use the graphic user interface (GUI). On the basis of the analysis of a realized VS the set of common input/output devices was chosen: the framegrabber, the timer, the communication port. For these devices the input/output model is developed and the components in C++ language are realized. As an example is VS for automation of control operations with inspection of railway objects infrastructure. During VS work in software components are used the data requiring a long-term storage. In paper the types of data kept in VS on disks are described. The ways of storage given by operational system and some commercial DBMS (for example, CodeBase, Paradox Engine and Delphi) are analyzed. For storage, processing and representation of results of VS work in a kind, convenient for the man, was developed separate program - information system (IS). The IS is functioning in the Windows 95 environment.
