Modern Fortran

This paper presents a survey of modern state and perspectives of Fortran. The most important new features of Fortran 90/95 standards, main directions of the project of the future Fortran standard (Fortran 2000) and some approaches to modern Fortran standard extensions for parallel computing systems are briefly described. The special section contains suggestions to remove some irregularity from Fortran standards.
