'Unusual' Domain Walls in Ferro - Antiferromagnetic Multilayers

V. D. Levchenko, A. I. Morozov, A. S. Sigov, Yu. S. Sigov

Abstract: In multilayer structures consisting of interstratified layers of ferromagnet and antiferromagnet, a roughness of interfaces, i.e. the occurrence of atomic steps is liable to cause frustrations in spin orientations. In some cases, describing in the paper, the formation of microscopic domains within the layers becomes favorable, the domain boundary in the layer plane concluding with the atomic step edge. The domain wall width increases directly with the distance from the interface and the energy of the domain wall behaves as logarithm of the layer thickness.
