The Analysis of Contact Surfaces Melting Process at Solid Armature Launching

M. P. Galanin, A. D. Lebedev, V. V. Savitchev, B. A. Uryukov

Abstract: The work is dedicated to the analysis of processes, taking place on the contact surfaces in electrodynamical launcher of railgun type. The main purpose is investigation of contact melting phenomenon and appearance of liquid film as a result of friction action, which is one of the great factors, leading to metallic contact losing and its transition into plasma one. Partially, the theoretical analysis has shown the origin of liquid film leads to sharp decreasing of friction force compared with 'dry' friction, so the friction can be neglected at launching armature simulation.
