Spectral Opacities and Emissivities of Plasma, Consistent with Radiation

V. G. Novikov, A. D. Solomyannaya

Abstract: The plasmas absorption and emission coefficients extremely depend on the inner radiation field. At the same time the radiation field defines those plasmas properties. In fact the opacities and emissivities being used in the radiation transport equation have to be consistent with the local intensity of radiation. For this purpose a simple interpolation model for calculation of spectral characteristics of non-LTE plasma with different radiation field is developed. The first stage of calculations is based on the average atom approximation (non-LTE steady state case) and then the perturbation theory is used to take into account detailed configurations. The interpolation technique uses calculated beforehand spectral data for some limiting cases, for example, transparent and LTE plasma. The comparison of straightforward calculations and appropriate interpolation results for several intermediate intensities of radiation have been carried out for gold.
