Cellular Automata for Modelling of Diffusion

G. G. Malinetskii, M. S. Shakaeva

Abstract: The simplest cellular automata for the basic model of mathematical physics such as the equation of diffusion is considered in this work. Various numerical methods of this equation solving such as the finite difference method, the Monte-Carlo method and method used cellular automata are compared on the example of two tests. The class of problems is discovered where the application of cellular automata has advantages. The Liesegang instability and basic types of one-dimensional structures are studied with the help of cellular automata.
