Numerical simulation of shock waves interaction with boundary layers on adaptive grids

A. E. Lutsky, A. V. Plenkin

Abstract: Studies of interactions of shock waves with boundary layers are actively underway around the world, starting around the end of the Second World War. Despite the huge amount of results, many issues require further research and attract attention of scientists in Russia and abroad. Currently, these studies are of particular relevance in relation to the development of jet engines for hypersonic vehicles. A characteristic feature of these flows is the presence of elements significantly different in the spatial and temporal scales. For numerical studies of such flows is a very effective approach using locally adaptive grids.

Keywords: shock wave, boundary layer separation, adaptive grids.
