On the finite superelement method in the solution of eigenvalue problems

L. G. Strakhovskaya

Abstract: An approach to solving spectral problems using the finite superelement method for approximation of the problem is developed. FSEM allows without increasing the dimension of the finite-dimensional approximating space to increase the accuracy of the desired solution. The FSEM designs define an iterative algorithm for computing eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of the differential operator. There were built two algorithms using polynomial and two-level superelement. A comparison with high-order FEM was made.

Keywords: superelement, spectrum, operator, algorithm.
