Abstract: Physical and computational experiments are carried out to determine the attenuation coefficient of the photon flux of a given spectrum by packets of dissimilar materials. The computational experiment was carried out on the basis of a supercomputer quasistationary radiation transport model oriented to a heterogeneous computing cluster. Physical experiments were carried out on a mobile x-ray diagnostic unit. A satisfactory agreement between the results of the experiment and calculation was revealed.

Keywords: ionizing radiation, attenuation coefficient, experiment, supercomputer calculation.
