An approximate model of multicomponent two-phase flow with partial miscibility

Yu. K. Mizyakin, M. M. Hairullin, Yu. A. Poveshchenko

Abstract: A new approximated model of multi-component two-phase flow is proposed. This model is based on the thermodynamically consisitent model of multi-component two-phase diffuse interface flow and additional assumption that the interface thickness is much smaller than all other length scales.
The thermodynamically consisitent model of multi-component two-phase diffuse interface flow in its turn is based on the components’ mole amounts and momentum conservation laws, the linear non-equilibrium thermodynamics relationships and «square gradient» Helmholtz free energy form.

Keywords: two-phase multicomponent flow, gradient theory, Cahn-Hilliard equation.
