Transient effects identification in the Earth atmosphere using small satellites

Y. V. Mashtakov, U. V. Monakhova, D. S. Ivanov

Abstract: The paper considers the dynamic aspects of the possibility of carrying out a space mission to study gamma-ray flares of terrestrial origin. We propose an approach to the selection of reference orbits that allows the satellites to form equilateral triangle in the near-equatorial zone. In addition, an algorithm for phasing the satellites by latitude argument using aerodynamic drag forces is proposed.

Keywords: motion control, small satellite, triangular formation flying, propelantless control.
