Mathematical modeling of the rotation of the walls of a stationary plasma thruster chamber for incompressible plasma

A. A. Tayurskii

Abstract: A mathematical model has been developed to calculate the output parameters of plasma in a stationary plasma thruster (SPT) taking into account the rotation of the side walls of the SPT chamber without calculating the main plasma processes in the SPT. The determining factors underlying the proposed approach are the two-fluid nature of the plasma, including full consideration of electron inertia, and dissipative processes: magnetic and hydrodynamic viscosities of electrons and ions, plasma thermal conductivity, and temperature relaxation. The calculation of output profiles is reduced to solving a boundary value problem for a certain linear system of 8th-order ODEs with variable coefficients on a segment. A method for the numerical solution of the obtained boundary value problem is proposed. The results of calculations depending on the rotation of the side walls of the SPT chamber are presented demonstrating the functionality of the mathematical model.

Keywords: SPT, mathematical modeling, incompressible plasma.
