Abstract: In this paper we investigate the long-term stability of field emission cathodes made of industrial graphite depending on pressure in the vacuum chamber. We compared field emission characteristics of the cathodes under study. The distinguishing feature of these cathodes is the capability to restore field-emission areas while they are operating therefore their lifetime is almost infinite.

Keywords: cathode, field-emission, graphite.
